Travel to Victoria - Canada

Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is a cosmopolitan city with the atmosphere of a small town. Also known as “garden city”, Victoria is full of gardens and parks. It has the best weather in all of Canada and is so charming that 3.5 tourists visit it every year. The city combines British history and traditions with the culture of the natives who lived there in the early days. This can be seen in the Victorian-style buildings standing next to parks decorated with totem poles. There is no other city in the world where you can go whale-watching during the day and come back home in time to drink English tea in one of the many tea houses in town.

Victoria is the oldest city in western Canada. Its first residents were Native Americans of various tribes. The city started off as a Hudson’s Bay Company trading post in 1843. It was later named FortVictoria in honour of the Queen of Britain. The city grew quickly during the gold rush in 1858. In 1866 when the island was politically united with the mainland, Victoria remained the capital of the new united colony and became the provincial capital when British Columbia joined the Canadian Confederation in 1871. Victoria was the biggest city in British Columbia until the end of the 19th Century when the trans-Atlantic railway turned Vancouver into the largest city in the province.

Family Holiday in Montreal - Canada

Montreal is one of the most diverse cities in North America. It fuses old with new, European culture with American culture, sports with concerts... The official language of Montreal (and all of Quebec in general) is French, but its residents speak fluent English as well. Montreal, which sits on an island, is considered the most romantic city in Canada. It is the biggest city in Quebec (the second largest in all of Canada) and is the second largest French-speaking city in the world. Montreal is also a harbour city and an important financial hub of Canada. Thanks to Expo 67 and the 1976 Olympics which took place in this city, it developed greatly. Its tourist areas were carefully planned, helping create a spacious, modern, pleasant city.

Due to the extremely harsh weather Montreal experiences in winter, a sort of underground city of enormous proportions sprung up. The underground area is made up of interconnected shopping malls and cultural and entertainment centres which also connect to the city’s subway stations. The universities, Olympic Village, office buildings and some of the museums also connect to the underground network, whose total span is a whopping 30 kilometres. Montreal is also a city of festivals – there’s a reason to celebrate nearly every day. The city attracts lovers of jazz, film, dance, theatre, food, and sports, and is also highly suitable for families. The official tourism website of Montreal is www.tourisme-montreal.org, where you will find plenty of information about the city, its sites and its events.

Travel to Vancouver Canada

Vancouver is a dynamic, bustling, modern city. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world – and rightly so. It is nicknamed “the crown jewel of western Canada” due to its fantastic location between tall mountains and bays dotted with countless islands and the Pacific Ocean. It has a great combination of natural wilderness, well cared for parks and city scenery which includes skyscrapers, interesting architecture, and unique neighbourhoods and marketplaces. It’s no wonder the Conde Nast Traveller magazine picked Vancouver as one of the top ten cities to visit in the world.

The city is relatively young (a little over 100 years old) but it grows at a particularly high pace. Two million people live in the Greater Vancouver Regional District, while about half a million of these live in the city itself. It is the third largest city in Canada and the largest in western Canada. Despite not being the capital of British Columbia, it is the cultural, industrial, and financial centre of the state. Vancouver harbour is one of the biggest and busiest harbours in North America.

Recommended Lodging in the Canadian Rockies

Therefore, the most popular options are Bed & Breakfasts (B&B) and holiday apartments. The price range in this style of living can vary greatly. Some B&Bs in the area are extremely pricy and appropriately luxurious. Others, however, are very nice and decently priced. The advantage of living in a B&B, besides the opportunity to live in the heart of the Rockies, is that you get to meet the Canadian owners of the house, known for their kindness and hospitality. Their home-made breakfasts are delicious as well.

The Great Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls are two enormous waterfalls in the Niagara River, which straddles the border between the state of New York in the US and Ontario in Canada.

The American falls are on the American side of the border, and they make up only 10% of all the water in the Niagara Falls. They are 55 metres high and 330 metres wide. To the right of these falls is a smaller waterfall, separated from the others by the forces of nature, called Bridal Veil Falls. Goat Island separates the two parts of the American falls.
